NEW ARTIST: KRISTINIA DEBARGE

Kristinia DeBarge looks set to have one of the biggest summer anthems; 'Goodbye"

QUICK BIO: DeBarge is from America, she's 19 and also signed to Def Jam (dRihanna 2.0?)

"Goodbye"
"Goodbye" is a punchy pop song with a catchy top-tappin' beat, "good" lyrics and... SUMMER ANTHEM WRITTEN ALL OVER IT! The song samples "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" by Steam (who?) and this gives the song instant familiarity. I like this song but to be honest she isn't breaking any new ground which is essential for future singles.
All up this song seems as though it was written for Rihanna during her "A Girl Like Me" faze, but credit is still due to Kristina.

2009 FIRST QUARTER REVIEW: MUSIC

JANUARY
- Early January, 2008 Breakout Star Lady Gaga hit No.1 in the USA with "Just Dance" and went on to score a No.1 in the UK with the same track and also topped both charts with her follow-up "Poker Face".

FEBRUARY
- February saw the return of Miss Lily Allen with her first single off the UK No.1 Album "The Fear" soaring into the top position on the UK Charts and reclaiming her title as the most innovative Pop artist of the 21st Century!

- Kelly Clarkson returned with a worldiwde No.1 single "My Life Would Suck Without You" and released her fourth studio album "All I Ever Wanted".

- In mid February we were left shocked after news broke that Chris Brown had attacked "it" girl Rihanna after a Pre-Grammy's party! He is currently awaiting the courts to decide his punishment but like many i have lost ALL respect for CB!

- In NZ news, February a new bunch of music heroes emerged, with a South-Auckland crew Smashproof releasing a massive debut sing;e "Brother (featuring Gin)" Holding the top spot for the majority of Feb, March and now April!

- Also in NZ music news, Ladyhawke flew into the NZ & Aus Top 20's with her fourth single "My Delerium".

- Lastly, February saw the re-emergence of Rap Superstar Eminem who will drop his sixth studio album "Relapse" May 15th.

MARCH
- On March 3rd Pop/Pap Princess and Former Trainwreck Britney Spears kicked off her The Circus Starring: Britney Spears Tour in New Orleans, USA. The Tour has been a MASSIVE success so far with all shows sold out and glowing reviews all round!

- U2 re-emerged with their twelfth studio album "No Line on the Horizon" which debuted on top of all major charts.

- US Songbird Taylor Swift's first international release Fearless debuted atop the NZ Album Chart March 23rd thanks to her radio-breaking single "Love Story". the album also charted well in the UK & Australia.

Early APRIL
- The Black Eyed Peas returned early April and scored a No.1 with "Boom Boom Pow", their first track of their new album "The E.N.D."

- Rapper T.I. was sentenced to a one year and one day prison sentence for a conviction from 2008.

- Mid April saw Calvin Harris return with a massive UK No.1 "I'm Not Alone".
