Song of the Week - Run

Yes after her disastrous previous release, "Forgive Me" (ha irony!), Lewis is back with a brilliant cover of Snow Patrol's amazing single, "Run"!
This cover is simply perfect! Now i loved Snow Patrol's original, but there is just something about mixing the song and Lewis' vocals together which is both chilling and uplifting. She hits every note and displays the perfection of her voice very eloquently! This song is gonna be a HUGE anthem, and I'm surprised that this isn't in contention for a Christmas #1 (it will be released digitally December 1st in the UK) but still, it will be a #1 hit no doubt about it, it could even top the Billboard chart when it is released in either December or January.
Thank god she's back, now no more songs like "Forgive Me" EVER!

Score: 9.5/10

Check out this song as well as many more off her recently re-released debut album, "Spirit: The Deluxe Edition", on her official Myspace! And go out an buy a copy of this amazing cover!

Yep, She's Back!

Miss Britney Spears is back! How stunning does she look in this pic (off her official website BritneySpears.com!
After listening to a few of her recently leaked tracks off "Circus the time has come to return her Pop-Princess crown!
Three years ago it was hard to believe that this day would come, but I always had a feeling that she would get that train back on route!
Bring on December 2nd!

Quantum of Solace Nearly Here!

Yes, the 22nd James Bond movie, "Quantum of Solace " will be released this Thursday (27th November) in New Zealand, and looks to be a must see!

Already having £15.5 million in the UK in it's opening weekend, and $67.5 million in the US! The film continues one hour after the events of "Casino Royale" and sees Bond (Daniel Craig visit Italy, Bolivia, Austria, Russia, England all in days work, fighting the bad-guy, Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), "a member of the Quantum organisation posing as an environmentalist, who intends to stage a coup d'état in Bolivia to take control of its water supply. Bond seeks revenge for the death of Vesper Lynd, and is assisted by Camille Montes, who has her own vengeance issues."

Now although this film a long with "Casino Royale" have been the best, with tonnes of action and just a revitalized feel to them, i have to wonder, can't you get better Bond-Girls? I mean Olga Kurylenko is hot and talented but she just doesn't seem to have that Bond-Girl feel to her, we need someone who can really step up to the role and bring back the sass which the classic Bond-Girl had!

But overall this film looks really really good so bring it on!

Once again, "Quantum of Solace " is out now in the UK and US, and will be out this Thursday (27th November) in New Zealand!

Twilight Tonight!

Yes, today the most anticipated movie of the season, "Twilight", will be hitting movie screens all across the US!

Here's the plot:
Seventeen-year-old Isabella "Bella" Swan moves to the small town of Forks, Washington, to live with her father, Charlie. There, she finds herself drawn to a mysterious classmate, Edward Cullen, who is revealed to be a 108-year-old vampire but is physically seventeen. Although Edward discourages the romance at first, they soon fall deeply in love. When the arrival of three nomadic vampires, James, Laurent, and Victoria, puts Bella's life in danger, Edward and his family, Alice, Carlisle, Esme, Jasper, Emmett and Rosalie, put their lives at stake to save her.

This flick looks amazing and has a lot of expectations! Personally i think it'll be a really good film, with some promising up-and-coming actors/actresses. Plus with the success of the books, this could be the next "Harry Potter" (as many people have claimed!) Time will tell!

So go see it and get behind it!

("Twilight" comes out in New Zealand on Christmas Day and December 11th in Australia!)

Pushing Daisies & Dirty Sexy Money Cancelled

The end is...now!

Looks like the truth has come out, Pushing Daisies has officially been cancelled, as has another great ABC show Dirty Sexy Money!
ABC president Steve McPherson has said "We gave it the best shot we could."
It seems that they met the sophomore-slump and have found it hard to attract viewers post-writers strike.
Pushing Daisies will end after it's 13th (22nd in total) with Dirty Sexy Money finishing shortly too. This is tragic news with both of these shows bringing new life into a generic TV season (everything is either a medical drama a la Grey's, ER, Private Practice or crime dramas a la all hundred CSI's & spin-offs)!
All we can do now is wait for the DVD's and hope that somehow, sometime in the future, shows of great quality as these can get the showing that they deserve!

For New Zealand viewers:
Both shows will screen here staring around February as part of TV2's 2009 new season!

Lily Gets Her Sexy On

Miss Allen, who knew you were so damn sexy!

I've always thought Lily Allen was hot but after seeing new pics from her spread in the January '09 issue of Nylon i would definitely rate her up there as one of the sexiest stars! In the interview she speaks about her new album,
"It's Not Me, It's You", and her hectic and tabloid-ridden life!

More Pics Below:

"It's Not Me, It's You" is out February 2009.

Billboard Chart Beat

This week on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles it's still all about T.I.!

After occupying the top two spots for the last few weeks, he still holds at #1 with "Live You Life featuring Rihanna" and #2 with his previous single "Whatever You Like". Can this man be stopped? In at #3 is Beyonce with her powerful single "If I Were A Boy" which is also the Sales Gainer of the week.

Here's how the top 5 look this week (29.11.08):

1. T.I. feat. Rihanna "Live Your Life" (WEA/Warner)
2. T.I. "Whatever You Like" (WEA/Warner)
3. Beyonce "If I Were A Boy" (SonyBMG)
4. Katy Perry "Hot N Cold" (Capitol)
5. P!nk "So What" (LaFace)

On the album chart, Taylor Swift scores her first #1 album with "Fearless" selling an impressive 592,304 copies in it's first week.
The Chart also featured three other big debuts of the week with American Idol runner-up David Archuleta debuting at #2 with his self-titled debut album, whilst T-Pain debuted at #4 (behind the latest Now! which debuted at #3) with his latest "Thr33 Ringz" and Pop-Diva Christina Aguilera bowing in at #9 with her greatest hits collection titled "Keeps Gettin 'Better: A Decade Of Hits". Not a big week for her but not a bad debut none the less!

Lewis Lewis's Latest - Supermarket Music!

What was she thinking!!!

Leona Lewis's latest offering "Forgive Me" is absolute rubbish and would only sound good at a supermarket!
The song is produced Akon and just sounds wrong! Who does she think she is, the next Mariah Carey (not even she could pull this one off - not a complement!) From the annoying music ( which just doesn't sound right - she never should have let Akon do it) to the borderline-passable lyrics, this song never had a chance. Its seems as though her management team are trying to take her in a new direction and make her "cooler" and target a younger audience - but why! We have enough generic R&B artists out there, why waste your talent and your amazing voice, you can sing but can't dance!

This brings me on to the music video, which after visiting the Warner Brothers Studio's recently, looks as thought they made it on a back-lot in about a day!
The video just feels lost in time. From her modern-ish clothes to the retro-50's looking digs on the guys, to the bad dancing on her part, the vid just doesn't work. She should stick with what she knows and not try to please EVERYONE, remember those who made you what you are! Simon Cowell, where are you!

Scores: Song & Video - 3.5/10 (generous)

At the end of the day this song will still be big (it's the way it goes) but it will be forgettable. It will sound great though at the supermarket, along with their amazing music collection (sarcasm btw)!
Better luck next time Leona!

NZ RIANZ Chart Beat

After topping the chart last week on the New Zealand Singles Chart with "Poker Face", Lady Gaga holds on once again to the #1 spot.
In at #2 this week is the rising phoenix Beyonce with "If I Were A Boy" and following her with a double assault is US rapper, T.I. at numbers 3 & 4.

Here's how the top 5 look this week (17.11.08)

1. Lady Gaga "Poker Face" (Universal)
2. Beyonce "If I Were A Boy" (SonyMusic)
3. P-Money "Everything" (Dirty/Rhythm/DRM)
4. T.I. "Whatever You Like" (WEA/Warner)
5. T.I. feat. Rihanna "Live Your Life" (WEA/Warner)

On the album chart, New Zealand trio The Feelers bow in at #1 with their greatest hits, titled "The Best: 1998-2008". This is a collection of some great songs (some seem to have a very very similar sound to them) and will be a definite fixture int the Xmas stocking and at all the summer bbq's!

Not long till Christmas, what will be this years Xmas #1??? Predictions coming soon!

NEW Britney Leak - Circus

It's official, i have a soft spot for Britney and her music, and here is the second single from her upcoming album, "Circus", "Circus" as well as another song off the album "Lace and Leather" which leaked today.

"Circus" is an AMAZINGLY GOOD song and has flown straight up to the top of the list as my favourite song of 2008 (up there with King of Leon - Sex on Fire)! This track is just cool, with it's amazing music (very similar to "Break The Ice") and the lyrics are very provocative and very cool. The production of this song is just brilliant and brings the whole euphoria that this song is together! This song will sound great in clubs and should head right to the top of the chart (if there is any justice)! Can't wait for the upcoming accompanying music clip!

Score: 9.8/10

Second up is "Lace and Leather". This track is also really cool, with a little more poppier. The beat is is once again catchy and the lyrics are there just to bring the song together (not to say they're bad it's just the instrumental is really good!). Not quite right for a single, but is still a lot of fun and shows the diversity of the "Blackout"-"Circus" era. This album is gonna be HUGE! Don't deny you're not a little curious.

Score: 8/10

Kiwi Export - Ladyhawke

One of the best exports for New Zealand (and and one of my favourite artists right now), Ladyhawke, is taking the music world by storm!

Originally from Masterton, Ladyhawke (real name Pip Brown) burst on to the music scene this year and has made a big impression!
When i first heard her song "Back of the Van" i was a little unsure of what to make of it. But after listening to it at least ten more times, i really started to enjoy it and was stoked when her next release, "Paris Is Burning" came out! This song is instantly lovable and is just a great dance anthem. It's typical Ladyhawke with simple lyrics and great music, mashed together for around 4 minutes of pure enjoyment! But my favourite and possibly one of the greatest songs of 2008 would have to be "Dusk Till Dawn".
The song is once again simple (musically) and is so damn catchy. It's just got a cool chilled out beat and is just a very smooth and just a fresh sound! Also the video is wicked with many cool ideas for next years Halloween costumes (if you're into that...!

With news that a fourth single from her self-titled debut album ("Ladyhawke", "My Delirium", out December 8th in the UK, this might just be the year of the Ladyhawke!

Score (Dusk Till Dawn): 9/10

Check her out at her official Myspace!
